Last April members of Mid Life Cycles were invited by the New Beginnings Class from Cokesbury United Method Church to bring our motorcycles and be the "entertainment" once again. The class provided dinner for the kids and their families, while we made our motorcycles available for the kids to climb on and take pics. Many of us accepted and were rewarded many times over. For example, the two lads to the right of this article were both waiting for lung transplants. You can see one was already on oxygen. Before we left, these two boys asked that we come back, while they were there, if we could. It didn't work out, but that evening we vowed to come back and prepare a grilled hamburger dinner for the kids and their families. While on a tour of the Ronald McDonald House, we asked if there was anything they need at the house. Kathy Scalf the Families Activities Coordinator said they always need paper goods. Toilet paper, napkins, plates and such. So, we decided to not only go back and feed the families, but to have a paper drive as well. Have your friends and family members donate some goods to drag up there. We want the bikes covered with paper goods when we arrive. Since that visit, both of these young boys have had their surgeries and are doing well.
We will have a planning meeting at my home on Jan. 22nd. If you have any ideas, contributions, suggestiongs, this will be the time to do so. We will meet at 7:01 pm. If you have a question or need directions, please call me at 281-844-9090.
